To mobilize our mission, LEADR employs policy and practice-related projects that promote the health and well-being of urban families, support the well-being of fathers, and promote optimal functioning in the parental role. We aim to bridge the gap between policy and practice wherever possible.
LEADR Practice Projects
Consistent with LEADR’s mission and Dr. Doyle’s research program, practice-related projects focus on father-related research that builds on fathers’ strengths to support both parenting and youth’s mental and behavioral health. This includes studies that inform the development of father-focused preventive interventions with Black fathers and youth. LEADR practice-related projects also focus on practice implications for LEADR policy-related projects (e.g., child support).

LEADR Policy Projects
Consistent with LEADR’s mission and Dr. McLeod’s research program, policy-related projects address structural and policy issues— primarily child support and criminal legal systems that impact fathers’ overall well-being and their ability to function in those roles. LEADR’s focus on systems and policy provides implications for its practice-related projects.
